Yikes! You're scaring me. A few weeks ago a police chase ended in my neighborhood with the chase-ee ramming into an unprotected natural gas meter thing. Gas started spewing, but nothing ignited it before it was shut off. I was later told this could easily have turned into a fireball disaster.

I am about 800 feet from a Barnett Shale gas well, drilled a couple years ago. Real noisy and dusty when that was going on. I don't know how much pollution I'm breathing from that well and if it's the cause of my ailments.

You're absolutely correct about the possibility of a fireball, very glad that it didn't turn out that way.

Do you have caged birds? I've heard they can detect odorless poison gas, thinking that coal miners used them in the ol' days.
