The "New Energy Army" Pickens' Pushovers

I don't pretend to know everything, or even much about a little, BUT I sure know the difference between CLEAN energy and a DANGEROUS substitute. Pickens gets praised for creating an army to fight against using foreign oil. This fight includes increased natural gas drilling in the United States. How does that translate into "NEW ENERGY"? Does this NEW ENERGY ARMY wear blinders and are they being led around by the gonads? I'm gonna put this into terms that some of my fellow Texans can understand: Your prize bull is fixin' to be castrated! Bet that sent cold shivers down your spine!

I've blogged before about how many natural gas explosions does it take to convince you that natural gas drilling, miles of pipelines, venting into the atmosphere...is not safe. Natural gas is not an alternative energy. Natural gas is not a clean energy.

I know what you're saying, "Atleast Pickens has a plan." But do you really understand the full implications of the Pickens' Plan or HR 1835? Here's the letter that encourages your representative to support it:

Please support the NAT GAS Act of 2009

Complete the form below to encourage your U.S. Representative and your U.S. Senators to support the NAT GAS Act of 2009.
This legislation has almost all of the elements for natural gas that we have been pushing for in the Pickens Plan.
  • It extends the tax credit for natural gas used as a transportation fuel.
  • It provides a tax credit for 80 percent of the additional cost when purchasing a dedicated natural gas vehicle.
  • It extends the tax credit for the installation of natural gas refueling pumps.
  • It creates incentives for the major manufacturers to sell natural gas vehicles (which they already produce for overseas markets) in the United States.

Extends a tax credit for whom? For big industry...that's who. The Pickens' Plan calls for the extension of the Production Tax Credit (PTC) which is government aid to big industry. This particular tax credit is directly linked to Wind Energy, it paid for a significant portion of new wind energy systems, and yet with all this government aid, American businesses still farmed out the work to China instead of reinvesting in American jobs.

None of this is being done to benefit the citizens of America. We're being used and abused, and dealt a defeating blow. Your representatives are mistaken by supporting this bill, it's not for the good of the Nation, only for a select few.

This bill also calls for the use of eminent domain. We've seen abuses of this starting back in the 50's and 60's with the passage of the Federal Aid HWY Act, President Eisenhower stated that this one act would change the face of America, and it did. Abuses of eminent domain continue today from useless entertainment facilities to big bullies of the oil and gas industry, forcing their will upon us.

I was scolded recently by a friend, who asked why I had to get government to force others to agree with my opinion. I don't know why I'm still smoldering over that comment. Maybe it's because the alternative is that corporations are buying government to ensure that their will be forced upon us. I'm only trying to put a monkey wrench into the machine.

Yeah, I'm gonna vote that you and I along with a select few run the energy sector, k? I'll take care of getting us into power . . . I mean, I do have family that still lives in Sicily, if you catch my drift . . . and since they're actual family, it's not like I'd owe anything, hahahaha!

On a serious note though, the only reason that huge corporations are able to buy out the gubment is because people in America don't vote. I hear people bitch and moan alllll the time, yet when policy comes up for vote and referendums are put to vote, the same people don't vote. I HATE it. I get so pissed around voting time, in case you couldn't tell.

I've decided it's pretty easy to boycott, lol. It's kind of fun, too. If everyone stopped driving for like one day. Not even everyone, just a lot, stupid oil and gas would understand that WE have THEM by the balls, not the other way around.

I also find it hard to believe that the eminent domain portion of the bill will have much effect on Texas since it's pretty much abused all the time here. Okay, it probably would make it even easier than it already is . . . bleh.

Wow. I ranted like twice on your comments. Oh well. Yay for comment fluff! HA!

Oooh, Jovan, I love Sicilians, count me in ;)

Boycotting is a lot of fun. I remember my daddy going on strike when he was a teacher in Mississippi back in the early 80s. I was so proud of him.

Yes, we need to do more voting, oust these long time people who do nothing for us. Maybe, we should really get serious about pinpointing candidates, exposing what they're doing and not doing. Any suggestions with whom we should start?

Anon, you're my BFF today :)

I sent that anonymously by mistake. I'll say it again, your thinking on this Pickens Plan is crystal clear and expressed very well. Monkeywrenchers unite!

Oh, now that I know it was you behind the anon posting...I'm flattered and I'll say this again, you're my BFF! :)

Alright. It's official. If anyone messes with you ... my "family" will be here ASAP. Haha.

Yeah, I haven't ever boycotted anything, but I love the idea. I am proud of your dad, too! That's impressive. I'm gonna boycott something someday. I don't know if it counts if I am only by myself?

No potential candidates that I like ... if you can think of some, I will, no joke, most definitely help you out. I know a lot of people. Part of being a friend whore I guess. We can nominate you! I'm not old enough to run for any office that I know of, I'll be your campaign advisor, haha!

Friend Whore...ha ha...that's too funny!

I'm thinking we should definitely cast our eyes towards State Sen Wendy Davis. She's responsible for two very good bills for tougher regulations on the oil and gas industry.

We can always do a "Day of Rest" where we don't use nothing...it'd take some planning, but I'm thinking if there's another climate day change thingy...maybe that's an event worth doing, by not doing anything! Did that come out right?

Yes. I am a self-proclaimed friend addict. But I can quit anytime I want!!! HAHAHA.

I did look at Wendy (we're on a first name basis now, FYI) and she's pretty awesome! Double plus: she's really pretty! Pretty + blonde + Harvard Law grad ... sound familiar!? LEGALLY BLONDE!!! That's it. We want her. She just needs a chihuahua.

I like your day of rest idea! You know Dallas already does Earth Hour (which you should check out if you haven't!), so maybe all of DFW can do Earth Hour and Do Nothing Day on the same day! No power, little water (we hafta drink!), no cars!!! Only DART and walking.

Speaking of Earth Hour, you should look up Earth Hour Dallas on youtube, it's weird seeing all of the lights in downtown going off, but cool too. Sydney started it. Those cheeky Aussies!

Wendy Davis is a ray of sunshine isn't she?

I didn't know about Dallas' Earth Hour...yeah, I'm thinking that hour could be increased a bit, maybe they're not ready for an entire day, but who knows. I'm wondering if Don Young works on it?

Oooh, the Aussies...now that's an accent I could get wrapped up in!

Jovan Gonzales said...

Yes yes. Wendy Davis is pretty neat from what I've been reading.

I was gonna say increase the Earth Hour and add our Day of Rest ... but then it would be called Earth Day. Uh oh. We already have an Earth Day AND a Day of Rest (Sunday!). So we need to work on a cheeky name! :D

Don Young? Isn't he the bridge to nowhere / jerk wad senator from Alaska!? Are we thinking of different Don Youngs? I think he would be the exact opposite of Earth Hour/Earth Day/Day of Rest! He HATES environmentalists and the like.

Cheap Tricks and Costly Truths said...

Yes, since you're around all that creative energy at The College...I'm thinking your think tank can start working on a good name.

OUCH! Not the same Don Young...uh, no. This Don Young saved the Tandy Hills of FT Worth, ya know...the ones Durango is always blabbing about! ;)
